Annual Quincy Tourism Fishing Derby

Quincy Valley Tourism Association (QVTA) sponsors an Annual Fishing Derby. The most recent derby staging area was at the Crescent Bar Recreation area boat basin but contestants were able to fish anywhere on the Columbia River between Rock Island Dam and Wanapum Dam.

There were 10 tagged fish placed in the river and they were worth a total of $30,000.00 if caught! There was one $10,000.00 winner and 4 additional tagged fish worth $5,000.00 each. In addition to these tagged fish, there were many other cash and non-cash prizes with a total value of approximately $10,000.00! Winners were judged by total weight in catch as well as single catch weight. In the event of a tie, length and time caught was the deciding factor. Prizes were awarded in the adult and the juvenile divisions but you must be 18 years of age to qualify for the tagged fish award.

Registration fees for this event was $20.00 per licensed adult 16 years of age or over. There is no charge for youth under the age of 16 but they must be registered to participate.
